So You Want to Understand Shrubbery pt.2 // For Urbit Non-Devs

Shrubbery is the new hotness! It proposes a radically different app and file system. In this video, we go over how Shrubbery explodes app state into the namespace and fixes all our problems. :)
CORRECTIONS:
1. Not really a correction, but %neo comes with it’s own docs! After running `|install ~met %neo`, you can click on the new `Sky` app tile on your usual Urbit home page. Inside the `Sky` app, you should be greeted with `Sky`’s home page with its own set of tiles. Click on the `docs` tile. The `docs` has an introduction, guides, and tutorials to help you get started. If you don’t see the `Sky` home page, look for the `+ new window` button in the sidebar.
2. Ezri, the chicken, did not lay that little eggs. It was actually Snoop!
3. Snoop is a hen not a he!

I built this interval timer from complete scratch! Backend and Frontend are all Hoon, the coding language for Urbit computers. This was for a hackathon, but also for myself. I really wanted this to exist to help me time out work sessions, mediations, and exercises. Feel great knowing something so completely that I can mold it to do exactly what I want.

I'm not a big commenter... and I know you're not supposed to write comments until you finish watching the whole video... but your explanation of inflation is not quite right. For starters the Fed has been targeting 1-2% inflation for most of our life times... not 3%... which might seem like a small thing, but that's twice as much inflation. 2nd... inflation has to do with how much money there is. The CPI (consumer price index) is what _most_ people mean when they say "inflation" but they are not actually the same thing. The CPI is what happens when the supply and "velocity" of money gets all mixed up in the markets for goods and services which are also doing their own dance of supply and demand. I'd have to think about how to explain inflation in a simple way... I'm not sure how to do that... but if you're _trying_ to avoid complicated financial jargon you might want to avoid the word "inflation" all together and just say something about how the only thing limiting the supply of any state issued currency... like the USD... is the good judgement of a few people... and the oversight of a bunch of elected officials. How hard is it (technically) to correctly manage the supply of money is a matter of debate. But what I think everyone agrees about is that there has always been, and always will be political pressure to do irresponsible things with the money supply as an easy fix for all kinds of economic problems. And the mistake is almost always to create too munch money. This has the effect of watering down all the money that's already in people's bank accounts, wallets, mattresses, g-strings, etc.

I love embedding videos into my Obsidian database and taking notes about the movie in that file. It's kind of like how I want my file manager to work; I want to have as much metadata about my data as I want. So I can search for something I know I said about the movie in order to find the movie, itself. That way I don't have to pay attention to naming or what my computer calls it; I just have to remember the way I want to remember talking about it.

I randomly happened upon Eric Shedd one evening doing some street music in Telluride last fall and he caught my attention with a great song by Sarah Jarosz and was a beautiful moment that I was able to capture with the old iPhone. Still one of my favorite videos on my little channel. He is super talented and an interesting dude. I actually car camped that night up by Ophir (close to his home)…life is strange. the specs alone on this projector had me second-guessing it to begin with 40000 to 1 contrast ratio like double of some of the highest ones online that I've seen not to mention 4000 + a n s i lumens which is a certified measurement typically the highest you'll see is 600 to 800 , uncertified you might see around six to eight thousand and then the MSRP like two to three times most of the high-end projectors and like 10 times the cost of the average projector but I definitely would like to see it in person and how it does in a dark room but I'm pretty sure the specs are bogus

Almost got “got” in CO with the same set up but odyssey projector and bmw speakers. Guy talked fast said it was worth $3000 and he would do $1200 I said $1000. We were in my bank parking lot. He showed me the website where it’s worth $5000 just for the projector. I said ok, he loaded the stuff in my van and he had a nice Volvo suv rental. I went into the bank, I was in line and something didn’t feel right. I googled odyssey projector and scam came up so I walked out without withdrawing money (thank fucking god). I gave him the stuff back and he still tried to sell it to me. That was a close one I probly should have fucked him up, but I was glad just to get out of there. Crazy how shiny things can and “deals” can get us to fork over loads of cash to some piece of shit.
